Course Description: The 2020 AIAG/Deloitte study on the Current State of Quality and Strategic Planning cited inadequate Problem-solving as the #1 critical issue negatively impacting their capability.  There are two major concerns with respect to this finding. One is the actual problem solvers, either they are not employing effective practices or they do not have the necessary skills for the role. The 2nd concern is that management of Problem Solving is lacking. This presentation will discuss strategic steps that can be taken to improve the execution and management of Problem Solving. An experiential review of the current state of the Problem Solving landscape will be offered as well as an overview of Strategic Planning. The principal focus will be on using this information to improve the organizational/individual effectiveness and efficiency of Problem Solving/causal analysis. The application of this approach is not restricted to problems but is also useful in assessing and evaluating new opportunities. The objective of this material is capability improvement of the organization/individual in Strategic Planning and the process of Problem Solving.  This material is not confined to company/organizational problem solving/causal assignment, but is applicable as an individual enhancement of skills that are useful in all aspects of life.

The attendee will come away with:

  • Basic skills as a problem solver and Root Cause Analyst and how to think like a problem solver
  • Behavioral modification essentials to enhance the capability of managing others in the problem-solving process
  • An outline of personal skills to develop to be recognized as a premier problem solver. An effective and efficient prescriptive approach to problem solving /causal attribution for both simple and complex problems
