Course Description: The 2020 AIAG/Deloitte study on the Current State of Quality and Strategic Planning cited inadequate Problem-solving as the #1 critical issue negatively impacting their capability.  There are two major concerns with respect to this finding. One is the actual problem solvers, either they are not employing effective practices or they do not have the necessary skills for the role. The 2nd concern is that management of Problem Solving is lacking. This presentation will discuss strategic steps that can be taken to improve the execution and management of Problem Solving. An experiential review of the current state of the Problem Solving landscape will be offered as well as an overview of Strategic Planning. The principal focus will be on using this information to improve the organizational/individual effectiveness and efficiency of Problem Solving/causal analysis. The application of this approach is not restricted to problems but is also useful in assessing and evaluating new opportunities. The objective of this material is capability improvement of the organization/individual in Strategic Planning and the process of Problem Solving.  This material is not confined to company/organizational problem solving/causal assignment, but is applicable as an individual enhancement of skills that are useful in all aspects of life.

About your instructor:
David Auda is an ASQ certified reliability engineer and quality manager who has worked on new product development, instrumentation development, medical devices, aerospace, energy and automotive disciplines. David has worked extensively in the areas of risk analysis, failure prevention, root cause analysis, problem solving, strategic planning and safety engineering as well as numerous other related disciplines. David has a BSEE from the Rochester Institute of Technology, with honors, Tau Beta Pi, and pursued his master level reliability studies at the RIT Center for Quality and Applied Statistics. David is a frequent presenter at international conferences and symposia, a competent speaker and validated ASQ trainer, delivering presentations and workshops on a wide variety of topics essential to the effective and efficient performance of Reliability and Quality practitioners. David is currently working as the Reliability and Maintainability Manager at Georgia Pacific’s Dixie works in Darlington South Carolina.
